☝️Immediately Available☝️

My search for a new freelance project is currently moving a little less smoothly than this week’s melting snow. ⛄️💧 And that’s saying something 🥶.

I apply. With or without ‘easy apply’. I’m “1 of 130 candidates.” *Oh gosh, poor recruiter 😱*
And 24 hours later, a neat AI response rolls in:
We chose someone else. Due to the high volume of applications, we’re unable to provide feedback. *You don’t say 🙄*

Fine. It happens. Though my brain quickly throws a 404 error and I run hot and cold all at once, because what if that ‘poor recruiter’ was actually just an AI model too? 😬

That thought becomes all too vivid when I see that exact same job posting still open three weeks later. You can already guess the look on my face (no subtitles needed) 🤨.

Aside from that, it hasn’t escaped my attention that the freelance market just can’t seem to rebound. Quite the opposite. Because companies keep clinging to permanent payroll? Why?
When freelancers often:

  • can jump in much faster 🚀
  • often end up cheaper in total cost 💸
  • take things off your plate right away 💻
  • and prevent weeks of nothing happening while work piles up into: “Good luck, new colleague, here is our sh*t.” 💐

Oh well, as long as people keep hunting for that rare unicorn who won’t even start for another 6 months, burnout coaches will certainly stay in business. 🙃

Frustrating, especially for people who genuinely want to work, want to learn, and above all, want to take work off your shoulders. I’ll keep searching. With enthusiasm. And slight disbelief. 🤺

To be continued, without a doubt. 💼✨
